CNC Machinist – HAAS Horizontal

Dunaway is a family oriented and family owned company that values our employee’s time both at work and at home. Our employees work M-F, 40 hours a week, and have their weekends free. Overtime is never mandatory.

Dunaway is looking to hire a highly skilled machinist to primarily operate our HAAS EC1600 horizontal CNC mill. However, we have several manual machines and other HAAS CNC machines that the machinist should be able to run as needed.

This candidate should have at least 5 years of manual machining experience and 3 years of CNC. This person will be responsible to take a drawing and raw stock, and independently choose the best course of action to machine the part to print. This will require fluent knowledge of G-code and the HAAS control panel.

Job duties:

  • Independently set up, program, and machine parts to drawing specifications.
  • Working knowledge of G code and conversational programming.
  • Working knowledge of machining steel and flame-cut parts.
  • Knowledge of how to machine with high-speed inserts.
  • Read and understand drawings to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Ensure all parts are checked for dimensional accuracy and quality before completing a job.
  • Ability to also operate other manual equipment (vertical and horizontal boring mills, lathes, etc).

Required experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manual machining
  • Minimum of 3 years of CNC programming and operating of a HAAS panel

Preferred experience:

  • Graduate of a formal training program
  • 10+ years of manual machining including all machines listed above.
  • 5 years’ experience with HAAS CNC equipment
  • Mastercam knowledge

Work environment:

  • Climate controlled, clean shop
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts

Schedule:

  • M-F 7AM to 3:30PM
  • No mandatory OT or weekends, but OT is offered when possible

Mechanical Engineer – machine design

Dunaway is looking to hire a highly skilled, Mechanical Engineer with industrial Machine Design experience. Candidate should have 3D and FEA skills, and be able to design industrial equipment related to the aluminum extrusion industry. This includes billet loaders, extrusion presses, stems, containers, tie rods, handling systems, etc. You must be able to plan, design, and coordinate the integration of new extrusion machinery and equipment into manufacturing processes with a high level of proficiency. This position must be capable of designing and troubleshooting complex mechanical functions while working independently and cohesively with your teammates.

Job duties:

  • Design of extrusion presses and related industrial and material handling equipment using 3D modeling software.
  • Reverse engineering of existing equipment for repair or product enhancements
  • Work directly with the field services team to assist with troubleshooting of equipment
  • 10%-15% travel

Required experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience designing industrial machinery/ handling equipment
  • Experience generating 2D drawings for manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics
  • Working knowledge of FEA analysis using industry standard software
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in the aluminum extrusion industry – designing and troubleshooting
  • 3+ years’ experience designing aluminum extrusion presses and associated handling and support equipment – billet loaders, extrusion presses, stems, containers, tie rods, etc.
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial engineering.
  • Experience using Solidworks and CAM software
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components

The Machine Design Engineer will be the main point of contact for all engineering services for our customers. This position plans, designs, and coordinates the integration of new extrusion machinery and equipment into manufacturing processes with a high level of proficiency.
