Mechanical Engineer for Industrial Machine Design

Dunaway is looking to hire a highly skilled, mid to senior level industrial Machine Design Engineer with 3D modeling (Solidworks) and FEA skills, who can design industrial equipment related to the aluminum extrusion industry. This includes billet loaders, extrusion presses, stems, containers, tie rods, handling systems, etc. You must be able to plan, design, and coordinate the integration of new extrusion machinery and equipment into manufacturing processes with a high level of proficiency. This position must be capable of designing and troubleshooting complex mechanical functions while working independently and cohesively with your teammates.

This position will be the main contact for all engineering for the company and will report directly to the president/owner of the company.

Job duties:

  • Design of extrusion presses and related industrial and material handling equipment using 3D modeling software.
  • Reverse engineering of existing equipment for repair or product enhancements
  • Work directly with the field services team to assist with troubleshooting and repair of equipment
  • Orchestrate the movement and installation of industrial equipment including extrusion presses, handling systems, billet heaters, etc.
  • Assist with quoting jobs
  • 10%-15% travel – subject to change based on workload

Required experience:

  • Industrial machinery and equipment design: 10+ years
  • Ability to schedule jobs through the shop to keep all machinists and assemblers busy at all times
  • Experience generating 2D drawings for manufacturing – in Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics for new designs and troubleshooting existing systems
  • Working knowledge of FEA analysis using industry standard software
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in the aluminum extrusion industry – designing and troubleshooting
  • Experience using Solidworks and CAM software
  • 3+ years’ experience designing aluminum extrusion presses and associated handling and support equipment – billet loaders, extrusion presses, stems, containers, tie rods, etc.
  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial.

Field Service Technician in Extrusion

Field Service Technician - Dunaway

Dunaway is looking to hire both experienced and non-experienced mechanically inclined individuals for our Field Service team working in the aluminum extrusion press repair and maintenance business. When in-between field jobs, you would work in the shop to help assemble, build, and repair equipment.

No experience required!

 

Job duties:

  • Assist lead technician(s) in repair and maintenance of aluminum extrusion presses and associated equipment.

Required experience:

  • Must be mechanically inclined. Understand how to use basic hand tools and general understanding of how to disassemble and rebuild mechanical assemblies.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience as a millwright, maintenance personnel, or similar.
  • Experience with welding – primarily stick and mig.
  • Experience in aluminum extrusion and maintenance of presses.

On the job training:

  • While on the job, you will learn to service and maintain aluminum extrusion presses. If desired, you can learn welding, hydraulics, PLCs, controls, electrical, engineer, etc, etc.

Schedule while in the shop:

  • M-F 7AM to 3:30PM

Schedule while in the field:

  • Varies by job and customer requirements. Weekend work is common due to customer production schedules. Your schedule can be flexible to accommodate time off to recharge.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is typically 4-5 days at a time. Per diem and travel expenses are covered by the company. Typical travel would be via company vehicles. On occasion, large jobs will require several weeks of travel at a time, but Dunaway will work with the team to rotate people to the field to mitigate the length of time on the road.

Pay:

  • Based on experience
  • Minimum pay starting at $15/hr
  • Overtime after 40hrs/wk
